Spring 2024 will celebrate the release of our first two red wines -- Syrahs from the northernmost and southernmost West Coast premium wine regions.
Francisa's Vineyard Syrah, Walla Walla AVA. Isenhower Cellars, where Brett is Winemaker, has purchased Viognier fruit from Francisca’s for years. The Rogan’s were kind enough to let us into their Syrah block. Their vineyard is situated south of Walla Walla, one-third mile from the Oregon border. Look for the inaugural 2022 Syrah to be released in Spring 2024. The wine’s current date with the new French oak barrels requires more time.
Foxtrot Vineyard Syrah, Santa Barbara County AVA. As we expanded our vineyard reach with the 2022 harvest, for the first time Brock tapped one of his client’s exciting new projects, Foxtrot Vineyard. It is located adjacent (to the west) of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA, in Santa Barbara County. To suggest he cherry-picked from the 40+ vineyards he has been involved in discovering and developing over his career, would be a good suggestion. The Syrah block lies on a south-facing slope, at the end of a box canyon that is buffered from the coastal weather influence of the ocean, to the west, by a ridge of the Purisima Hills.
And, new with the 2023 harvest:
Los Rocosos Vineyard Grenache, The Rocks District AVA of Walla Walla. We are adding one more Walla Walla vineyard in 2023 – a Rocks District Grenache. The Rocks District is a sub-AVA that lies within the greater Walla Walla Valley AVA. It is situated entirely in Oregon. (The Walla Walla Valley AVA encompasses both Oregon and Washington lands.) It is named after, and was established because of the predominant soil characteristic of the area – large quantities of water-rounded rocks from the historic beds of the Walla Walla River. The soil types offer an intensity to the fruit flavors.
